Sarju was a simple hearted shepherd whom Gods had blessed with a golden voice and he was a music genius. His songs were addressed to an unknown beloved, whom he had never seen but in the depth of his soul, there was a dream girl and he was as certain as his destiny that one day she will come.
And one day she did come, a very famous stage actress Kamla. She had come to enjoy the peace of the Himalayas away from her glittering world of big cities.
She said, “You are wasting your music in the wilderness of these mountains, like a peacock who dances alone in the jungle. Come to the city, the world will go mad after you. You will earn millions.”
He replied, “The peacock neither dances to earn money nor to please his audience. He dances in the ecstasy of his own soul and so do I. I shall always sing for you, for my love and never go to your big glamorous cities to sell my art.”
She could not convince him to go to the city, instead he made her agree to leave the city and come to his world, the world of nature, the world of eternal virgin beauty.
But, both did not know what destiny had in store for them. One day he had to go to the cities to sell his art so that he could pay for the marriage of his younger sister. And as Kamala had predicted the world went mad after his music.
Innocent Sarju of the serene mountains became Suraj Kumar, the matinee idol of the glamour world of the stage. But this world was not his world. This was a world full of jealousy, full of untruths and full of meanness and hatred.
At the event, in their adversity, his love was put on the cross circumstances that created a scene where he was thrown out by his own beloved, humiliated and injured, to the extent that he even could not speak the truth. But truth cannot be hidden forever. Like the morning sun, truth must rise above the mists of doubts and dispel the darkness of untruth. Before that happened, some unseen Gods put human beings to such severe tests which frightened even the angels. But the man with the strength of his faith and love attains such heights where the angels salute him.
‘Geet’ is the immoral story of the love and faith.
'Geet’ is a song of Love. Height of his popularity, attempts were made to murder him by his jealous rivals. Although he did not lose his life he lost more than his life, his voice. His art was crushed; every thing was dark around him. In that utter darkness there was only one bright ray that was Kamala, his dream girl. She was steadfast in her love for him and had decided to marry him even in his present state. The evil forces could not let the lovers be happy.
